T- shirt dress

Banana Republic at ShopStyle

The dress is as casual as a T-shirt. Since its black and white and so casual I would love to punch it up with multiple colors. Adds to the more casual, just "threw on things from my closet" look. Love the bright colored shoes and bag. A swipe of red lipstick wouldn't hurt either.

Mod Spring!

Isharya at ShopStyle

Love the neckline on this dress. Gap had a similar style but in neutral colors like Grey and Black. I think orange is the new neutral for this spring, hence even the Moroccan eye palette can be very neutral and versatile.

Love the moonstone earrings. They give a very traditional twist to this modern dress.

The bag with its floral pattern is very this spring. Its from Marni and a bit expensive but there are many inexpensive options in the market this season.

Little Tuna, Haddonfield, NJ

Love the ambiance and the lovely Haddonfield street views, but the food was OK. we went for restaurant week and by the time we were done with first 2 courses we were full. The food was very rich. The appetizers Calamari and Pasta salad were almost lunch sizes and very filling but nothing wow about them. The soups corm chowder and chicken Gumbo were very good.We got the short ribs and Grouper for entree. Both very very rich floating in butter. The sides polenta and mashed sweet potatoes were exceptional though. The desserts espresso mousse and strawberry shortcake were freshly made but very ordinary. Overall love the fresh high quality ingredients and exceptional cooking methods but I would tone down the richness and add more flavor.

In the pink...

Irene Neuwirth at ShopStyle

This might work...

Kenneth Jay Lane at ShopStyle

The shape of the tunic throws me off, so I balanced that with pencil skirt and high heels to give it a prim and proper shape. The lack of color in the clothes is compensated by accessories.

Clever skirt

Victoria's Secret at ShopStyle

The skirt's ruffles and lines makes you look skinnier.

The bag will bring out the pink in the skirt.

How perfect are these earring for this outfit?

The Boots!

Annette Ferdinandsen at ShopStyle

They are scrunch-able! Can you imagine! It was a 'Tadaaaaa' moment for me when I found these. I would wear them on bear legs scrunched in spring.

The stunning earrings doesn't hurt either.

The necklace keeps with the effortless theme of the dress.

Summer Day

Victoria's Secret at ShopStyle

Neutral dress accented with orange!

Watercolor Blouse

Anthropologie at ShopStyle

I love this blouse. I think it is very this season.

I tried very hard to stay away from being matchy matchy. The Pucci shoes are exact match so I'd rather wear the booties, but the sandals are a good option for summer.

Love the neckline on the jacket. I would wear a simple pendant with it to bring the color upwards to your face.

The ring reminds me of the flowers on the top. The bootie is very spring season and neutral.

Love the new spring makeup colors from sephora!

Velvet Jacket.

Chloe at ShopStyle

I was inspired by this jacket.

Its a bold look, but pairing it with neutral dress will tone it down. The jewelry brings out the neckline of the dress.

Simple as a daisy...

Paul & Joe at ShopStyle

The colors of the accessories are inspired from the embroidery on the dress.

I think the dress is plain enough to pull off the rich colored tights and shoes.

I wouldn't mess with too much jewelry with this one...

Love the skirt...

Lace but not too sexy skirt. This could be a great Friday look for work...

Effortless sexy...

Forever 21 at ShopStyle

Fun and sexy daytime look. The LOVE T is very sheer, so having the sparkly tank underneath will give an unexpected shimmer. I would leave the T out instead of tucking it.

Love the Betsy Johnson booties!

Layering the necklaces will give a more luxurious and casual look instead of your standard pearls with pencil skirt look. I still kept the pearls with the drop earrings, keeping them simple, so you don't have too many things trying to draw attention...

The ring adds more color to the black and white outfit.

Use bright eyeshadow to highlight the eyes and keep lips simple with a pink shimmer lipstick.

Best eye shadow for daytime

Oprah mag gave it an approval but I was skeptical until I tried it. Its wonderful and quick, no gimmicks here.

Love the colors too. I have Cocoa Shimmer and Sea Shell, but I think the colors are very universal and would look good on most skin tones. As you can see the applicator is like a lip gloss applicator.

Instead of swiping the whole lid with the wand, just dab a little in the middle of your lid and blend with your fingers. Looks light and shimmery like your lids are naturally glowing for daytime. A little swipe of mascara and eyeliner and you are good to go. Its great of those days (everyday for me) when you are already late for work.

Fabulous Trial Mix

I am fascinated with dry fruits right now and seem to be gathering bags of them wherever I go.

I picked up dried mango slices, dried cranberries, dried black raisins from a Indian grocery store the other day. Also picked up dried apricots and figs from a middle eastern grocery store. In figuring out what to do with these, I looked up trail mix recipes and came up with one. You have to try it to know how great it is... beats  the urge for candy at my 3pm slumps.

Mix
1/3 cup of dried mango slices chopped
1/3 cup of dried apricots chopped
1/3 cup of dried figs chopped
1/4 cup of dried cranberries
1/4 cup of dried black raisins
1 1/2 cup of roasted unsalted sunflower seeds
1 cup of walnuts

Makes about 16 servings of 1/4 cup each, which comes to about a 100 calorie snack.

I'm sure any fruit and nut combination works here, so try this and let me know if you try any other fabulous variations.

Too Faced Luster Liner Lip Pencil - Review

Its not a lip liner, its  lipstick in a clear pencil like tube.

So if you need an excuse to buy it, like I did, it's very portable. Slip it in your jean pocket and walk out the door. There are not many color choices, and I only found Caspian very versatile and suitable for all skins. Its great for layering too. I've been putting on a deep red lip stain and layering this on top and it looks great and classy.

Overall I love this brand. Seems like they put some research into their products instead of just churning them out. I've been using their shadow insurance for a while and love it. Unlike UDPP it's colorless.

I love their mascara too. The wand is very plush and coats every lash. You get the feeling of being pampered.

Jane Carter knows curls...

Another all natural brand I recenlty discovered is Jane Carter Solution. Picked up nourish and shine once at whole foods and loved it. Its texture is truely like a custard and amazingly moisturizes hair. It might be a bit heavy for fine hair though.

Try just the leave in or wrap and roll  for just definition and bounce without weighing down your hair.

Kinky Curly girl's picks...

So in my quest for luscious curls and looking anywhere decent a presentable hair style, instead of looking like "I just mowed the lawn in the Greenland and it did a number on my hair" look, I have tried many many products.

Whoever came up with the idea that we should "keep swicthing hair products instead of only using one all your life to avoid build up" idea will love me. I try to get organic a natural products whenever I can only because I understand the ingredients, and have a faint idea what they will do to my hair.

Here are so of the products I have tried lately...

1. Brand I am in love with right now is "Kinky Curly". They are not very widely available everywhere but you can get them in your local whole foods or order online.

I got it first from Ricky's in NYC. If you haven't visited Ricky's you should. It is a mecca for beauty products and there isn't a brand you can't get there.

You can also order this from the mother ship for curly girls naturallycurly.com

So anyway I loved the curling custard from this line. Its paraben free, silicone free and organic. It defines curls without being crunchy at all and doesn't weight down your curls. the trick is to apply it to wet hair, let it air dry and crunch your  curls once they are dry. Your hair will look completely natural with spirals and all. Love it!

I also tried spiral spritz, which is a bit tricky to apply. Instead of spraying it directly on your hair, try spraying it in your palm and spread it on wet hair. Air dry and crunch as usual. Along with definition you'll also feel like your curls are a bit more moisturized coz of the aloe in it.

The gloss pomade has amazing oils in it, but might be better in summer than winter. Its hard to spread on the hair in winter as the oils solidify. I have a tin of this and can't for summer to use this.

Mango Chutney in Philly

Saw this show at Asian art initiative theatre in Philly.

Was a good show. Neal did a great job. Writing could improve a little bit. We expected it to be funnier than it was, but overall was a good night out.

Definitely will keep looking out for more events from the art initiative.

Akoya@Pearl in Philly

Went to Akoya last night. A true "fusion" restaurant. I would say a classic American menu with Asian twist. You can get sliders with wasabi mayo. Sangria with Sake, tacos with sushi grade whitefish tuna on top and so on. We had the tacos and the sliders to start. My hubby got crab green curry pad thai which I thought was amazing. It had very profound taste of ginger and the sauce was very light and not overpowering.

I got crispy orange duck with bok choy, which I was not very impressed with. The duck looked like it was done a little rare and was not crispy. The rice had a bite to it. I would have just preferred bok choy without the rice.

We got Creme brule and chocolate cake with mango icecream for dessert. They were good but not great.

For drinks I got Kakujo Sake which had caramelized pear and ginger flavour. I love anything fruity or flowery so I loved this. I also got the Sake Sangria which was full of berries and not bad but looked slimy. I probably would have enjoyed their cocktail with Champagne, pear absolute and elderflower water better, coz I love the bubbly.

Did I mention I love Ralph?

With a classic american style, you can never go wrong with Ralph Lauren dress. These are clothes you can keep forever season after season year after year...

This dress can easily go to work with a nice lacy tank to counter the deep V neck.  I love the amazing lace cami from soma intimates. I have one in black and wear it all the time. The tempest blue will go well with this dress too. It will definelty go well with black sheer hose, a long sweater jacket and  black boots for fall and winter.

Coldwater Creek at ShopStyle

Love this dress. I tried to keep the look more neutral with the bag and the ring, resisting the urge to match everything. Love the bag, but I'm sure any neutral bag will work for this look.

Love the daring colors of eye shadows this spring. A nice way to express your self and have some fun.
